Crews doused a fire that broke out Friday morning at an Ogden meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Twenty firefighters from the city’s Fire Department and Weber Fire District responded at 550 E. 900 North in Ogden, the department said in a news release.
The crews saw smoke coming from the building, went in and extinguished the blaze, which was isolated to one wing of the church’s Mount Lewis Third and Fourth wards.
No one was in the building at the time, and no one was injured. The initial damage estimate is $40,000.
No cause for the fire has been determined. Because it’s a church building, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and state fire marshal are assisting Ogden’s fire marshal.
