The Tooele City Police Department is warning residents to be on the lookout for cougars.

According to a post on Facebook, residents reported two cougar sightings over the weekend — one on Saturday in the area of Tahoe Street and Ontario Street; the other on Sunday in the area of Sterling Elementary School at 135 S. 7th St.

Officers responded to both reports but did not see any mountain lions. Whether residents saw two different cougars or the same cougar twice is unknown.

Police urged residents to stay clear of any mountain lions they might encounter and immediately contact Tooele County Dispatch Center at 435-882-5600.
