It will be a wet start to the week in Utah, with snow possible at higher elevations — although northern Utah should escape the worst of it.
According to the National Weather Service, widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected across central and southern Utah on Monday. That will continue into Tuesday, with cooler temperatures spreading from north to south.
And, almost six weeks into spring, snow accumulation is in the forecast for mid- and higher elevations, with the greatest impact expected in central Utah.
There's potential for increased mid-elevation snowmelt and locally heavy rain in central and southern Utah. And that could make rivers, which are already running high, cold and fast, even more dangerous.
In the Salt Lake City area, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50s through Wednesday — with lows in the mid-30s — before rising into the 60s on Thursday and Friday and into the 70s for the weekend. In the St. George area, expect highs in the 70s through Thursday, followed by temperatures in the 80s through the weekend.
