A Cache County inmate was recaptured four days after he escaped

An inmate who walked away from a jail work assignment last week in Cache County is back behind bars.

Joshua Michael Aders, 32, who allegedly stole a truck while working at the American West Heritage Center in Wellsville on Thursday, was arrested without incident by Adult Probation and Parole officers at a motel in Davis County, according to Cache County Sheriff D. Chad Jensen. Aders was booked into the Davis County Jail and will be returned to the Cache County Jail in Logan.

He had been sentenced to jail on a variety of charges, including theft, fraud, failure to appear and drug offenses. Aders was scheduled to be released in May, but now he’s facing new charges related to his escape.

The stolen truck was found parked in an alley in Salt Lake City; it will be returned to the American West Heritage Center, where inmates who are not deemed flight risks can volunteer.
