A man was struck and killed by a FrontRunner train Orem on Wednesday morning, causing “significant delays” to train service. The victim’s identity has not been released.
The accident occurred about 8:20 a.m. when the person was struck by a northbound train at the Orem Central Station at 1350 W. 900 South.
According to a UTA spokesman, the victim is believed to have walked in front of the train and was pinned underneath it. Emergency crews responded.
UTA warned commuters to expect delays of up to 30 minutes, and released a statement expressing “condolences to the family and friends of the gentleman who lost his life in Orem this morning.” The release also reminded "everyone, motorists and pedestrians, to exercise extreme caution whenever they are near railroad tracks. A train could be approaching at any time.”
