Allegiant airlines is adding new nonstop service from Provo Municipal Airport to Tucson, Ariz., and also between St. George and Phoenix-Mesa. Introductory one-way fares are as low as $49.
Both new services will operate year-round and will be offered twice weekly. The St. George service begins on Nov. 9, and the extra Provo service begins Nov. 16, the airline announced.
“We’re thrilled to grow again in Provo,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue. “The Provo community has been supportive to us over the years, and we are sure they will enjoy our convenient, nonstop service to the sunny Southwest.”
About St. George, he added, “We know folks in this community will enjoy our convenient, nonstop service to the Valley of the Sun at a fare that everyone can afford.”
From Provo, Allegiant also offers daily flights to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, about 115 miles from Tucson. It also offers twice-weekly flights to Los Angeles International Airport. Previously, Allegiant had offered, but later canceled, flights from Provo to Oakland and San Diego.
The airline’s service in St. George is new, but that city is also served by Delta, United and American airlines.
Allegiant is a low-cost carrier that charges extra fees for all luggage, including carry-on bags.
Allegiant’s service in Provo began in February 2013 after Frontier Airlines ended a two-year experiment with flights from there to Denver. Allegiant also offers twice-weekly service from Utah’s Ogden-Hinckley airport to Phoenix-Mesa.
