Utah police find person of interest in apparent homicide of 10-month-old boy

Police have taken a person of interest into custody after finding a 10-month-old unresponsive Friday afternoon in an Ogden apartment. The baby later died.

About 4 p.m., officers discovered Alex Hidalgo Jr. inside the home near the 2400 block of Madison Avenue. The child was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the police department.

Authorities haven’t released any additional details about how the baby died, although they are investigating the case as a homicide.

The boy’s father, 37-year-old Alex Hidalgo, had been named a person of interest in the case. Ogden police tweeted late Saturday night that “the person of interest in relation to the infant homicide has been located.”
