Reno, Nev. • A Nevada middle school student who caused a school lockdown in February after authorities said he brought a knife to class has been sent to a treatment facility in Utah.
The Reno Gazette Journal reports the 13-year-old student from Pine Middle School in Reno was found not competent to stand trial. He is being sent to a treatment center that specializes in behavioral misconduct and substance abuse treatment.
No students were injured during the lockdown.
It’s not clear why the student brought a knife to school but several students reported witnessing him stabbing at a door and threatening to harm himself.
