A 20-year-old Salt Lake City man died Monday at Park City Mountain Resort after hitting a tree.
Investigators are trying to determine whether the man was wearing a helmet, Summit County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Andrew Wright said, but the man died at the resort before he could be transported to a hospital.
Wright said the sheriff’s office received several calls about 1:45 p.m. Monday reporting the accident. Wright said it appears the man was skiing alone on an advanced section of the Canyons Village side of the mountain when he struck a tree.
Ski patrol responded and took him to a medical center at the resort where he was pronounced dead.
The man’s parents have been notified, Wright said, but police are waiting to identify the man until out-of-state family has been contacted.
