A ‘Beautiful’ musical

There’s still a week left to see Pioneer Theatre Company’s production of the hit Broadway musical “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre, … , Salt Lake City. The musical traces the career of Carole King, from Brooklyn songwriter to international music legend, and features many of King’s well-known songs, such as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Natural Woman” and “I Feel the Earth Move.” Showtimes are Monday-Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m. For tickets, go to pioneertheatre.org.

‘Can you hear the people sing?’

The touring production of “Les Misérables” — the epic musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel of revolution, injustice and redemption — is making its return to the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City, on Wednesday. It’s the first of 22 performances on a run that ends March 15. Tickets are available at ArtTix.org.

Remembering Justin Townes Earle

A gaggle of Utah musicians are scheduled to gather Friday at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City, to pay tribute to the Americana/blues/folk singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle (1982-2020). Topping the lineup is Sammy Brue, from Ogden, who has completed songs from Earle’s journals (a gift from Earle’s wife, Jenn) and recorded them for a still-to-be-released album, “The Journals.” Also on the bill: Daniel Young, Andrew Wiscombe, Michelle Moonshine, Sara DeGraw, Morgan Snow, J-Rad Cooley, The Proper Way and Branson Anderson.
