Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.

Monday is the official holiday marking the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The group Beloved Community is organizing a celebration and community gathering, starting at 11:30 a.m. in the rotunda of the Utah Capitol, 350 N. State St., Salt Lake City. A program with songs, readings and speeches will start at noon. After that, a community walk from the Capitol to The Gateway starts at 1:30 p.m. — followed by a community choir concert and a service project, assembling winter care packages for Utah’s unhoused.

Thee Sacred Souls, for sure this time

If you missed the Jan. 11 concert by the soul/R&B group Thee Sacred Souls, you’re in luck — because so did they. Weather and high winds on the band’s tour route kept them from getting to Salt Lake City in time for that show, so they’ve rescheduled for Wednesday at the same venue, the Union Event Center, 235 N. 500 West, Salt Lake City. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets available at theunioneventcenter.com.

Bringing sexy back to SLC

Who do you see when you think of Justin Timberlake? One fifth of the boy band NSYNC? The solo artist who released “Cry Me a River” and “SexyBack”? The guy doing a voice in the “Trolls” movie (where he also sang “Can’t Stop the Feeling”)? The actor from “The Social Network” and “Inside Llewyn Davis”? The singer-songwriter-actor will bring all of those personae to the Delta Center on Saturday, on a stop on his “Forget Tomorrow” tour. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at DeltaCenter.com.
