From man to nanny

The national touring production of the Broadway musical “Mrs. Doubtfire” arrives in Utah, for a six-day, eight-show run starting Tuesday at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. Based on the 1993 Robin Williams comedy, the musical tells of Daniel, a divorced dad who finds an unusual way of keeping close to his children — by dressing as an old woman and getting a job as their nanny. Showtimes are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m.; Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 1 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets available at saltlakecity.broadway.com.

Music at the State Fair

The Utah State Fair continues, now through next Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N. 1000 West. Toward the end of the week, three headlining music acts will play at the Days of ‘47 Arena on the Fairpark grounds. Wednesday’s headliner is rock legend John Fogerty, performing his songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival; Thursday features country singer Dustin Lynch, with opening act Avery Anna; and Friday’s show is the rock band The All-American Rejects, with Neon Trees opening. Tickets available at utahstatefair.com.

Putting away Childish things

Saturday might be the last chance for Utahns to see Childish Gambino — the musical alter-ego of actor and writer Donald Glover — when he headlines at Delta Center, 300 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Glover has announced that the album he’s supporting on tour, “Bando Stone & the New World,” which he released in July, will be his last under the Gambino moniker. So see the man behind the mega-successful “This Is America” while you can. Show starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are available at deltacenter.com.
