Utah’s unique holiday

Wednesday is Pioneer Day, marking the day in 1847 when the first Mormon settlers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. There are a ton of events to celebrate the holiday — the biggest being the Days of ‘47 Parade in downtown Salt Lake City. There’s a full list of events around the state in The Mix section of today’s print edition, and online. (There’s also a list of events for the alternative holiday, Pie and Beer Day, in The Mix and online.)

July 24-27

A weekend of country music

Country Fan Fest ‘24, billed as “Utah’s biggest outdoor camping and music festival,” happens Wednesday through Saturday at Deseret Peak Complex, 2930 Utah Highway 112, in Grantsville. Dozens of performers are scheduled. The headliners are: Neal McCoy on Wednesday, Riley Green on Thursday, Bailey Zimmerman on Friday and Jon Pardi on Saturday. Tickets and passes are available at countryfanfest.com.
