High energy, with violin
Pop violinist Lindsey Stirling has Utah connections — she’s a Brigham Young University alumna — and fans here seem to be enamored with her high-energy performances, in which she dances while playing, accompanied by a band and backup dancers. Stirling is on a North American tour, supporting her album “Duality,” which was released June 14. She’s performing Monday night at Maverik Center, 3200 S. Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City. Indie-pop band Walk Off the Earth is the opening act. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets, starting at $52, are available at MaverikCenter.com.

Sundance movies, for free
The Sundance Institute’s Local Lens program, which brings free screenings of Sundance Film Festival titles to Utah audiences, lands Wednesday through next Sunday at locations in Salt Lake City, West Valley City and Park City. The nine films include dramas, a comedy, a horror comedy and documentaries — all but one of them coming from January’s festival. (The ninth, the 2013 Oscar winner “20 Feet From Stardom,” was an audience choice pick.) Go to Sundance.org/local-lens for a full schedule.
