Redbox kiosks in Salt Lake City area will start renting Nintendo Switch games

Video gamers in Salt Lake City — specifically, players who use the Nintendo Switch console — will soon have a new way to try out games before buying them.

Redbox, the movie and game rental company, will be adding Nintendo Switch games to its kiosks in the Salt Lake City market, the company announced Wednesday.

In addition to Salt Lake City, Redbox is adding Switch titles to its locations in Denver and Nashville. It’s the second wave of cities where Switch games will be available for rental; the company started test-marketing the Nintendo-friendly titles last October in Seattle, San Antonio and Portland, Ore.

Kiosks will be offering such games as NBA2k18, Splatoon 2 or Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for $3 a night. Those games have a list purchase price of $59.99 each, so the rental deal offers an inexpensive way to test-drive new games.
