A popular Salt Lake City juice bar closed down on Christmas Eve, according to an Instagram post. But disappointed fans may get a reprieve: There’s a chance the business might reopen in a different location.
Brass Smoothies, in the 9th and 9th neighborhood behind Pizza Nono at 925 E. 900 South, was known for its bowls and “craft” smoothies, in flavors like The Boss and The Golden Hour.
The Instagram post from Dec. 23 didn’t provide a reason for the closure, simply saying, “after so many wonderful years of blending, serving and sharing countless smiles, the time has come to say goodbye.”
“We’ve cherished every moment of being a part of your lives, whether it was your daily smoothie ritual, special celebrations, or those moments when we shared a laugh together,” the post continued.
But the post ended with a postscript that read, “There is a small chance we could reopen in the future if I happen to find the perfect location.”
In the comments, people chimed in to recommend locations, including the Maven District (in the storefront vacated by The Juice Shop in October), Woodbine Food Hall, Sugar House, Bountiful, the Marmalade District, State Street and the Granary District space vacated by Yoko Taco, which also closed at the end of December.
Brass Smoothies happened to be next door to Spilled Milk, an ice cream shop that closed all five of its Utah locations in November.
In the end, 9th and 9th isn’t without a smoothie spot. Yagööt sells smoothies, yogurt and acai bowls across the street from Brass Smoothies’ former location.
