Two Salt Lake Valley restaurants say they’ll close before Christmas

Yoko Taco and Wasatch Broiler and Grill will be closing their doors in December.

Two restaurants in the Salt Lake Valley are closing this month, according to posts on social media.

Yoko Taco, located in the ground floor of theRUTH apartments at 285 W. 800 South in Salt Lake City, announced in a Wednesday Instagram post that it’s closing. The restaurant, which opened in 2022, has been known for serving unique tacos in the Granary District.

“It’s with heavy and grateful hearts that we announce the permanent closure of Yoko Taco,” the post said. “We love this place. We love this food. We will miss it and all the people that made it special over the years from both sides of the counter.”

If you want to stop in one last time, Yoko Taco will be open Tuesday through Saturday until Dec. 21.For their final week, they’re selling tacos for $3 and beers for $2, according to Instagram.

Farther south in Midvale, Wasatch Broiler and Grill, at 7662 Union Park Ave., is also closing. In a Facebook post on Dec. 2, the restaurant announced that it wouldn’t be renewing its lease.

Wasatch Broiler and Grill will be closing its doors on Dec. 23.

According to the post, Wasatch Broiler and Grill opened in 1988 and has moved around over the years, starting in Murray, then Sugar House, then downtown Salt Lake City and finally in Midvale. Its eclectic menu has focused mostly on healthy Mediterranean fare such as pizza, pasta and kabobs.

“We have served the community with great honor and respect,” the post said. “It has been our pleasure to do so. That being said, we feel that it’s time to move on to the next chapter. We sincerely thank each and every customer and staff member that has shared in this wonderful journey.”
