Utah ice cream shop Spilled Milk closes all of its locations

The business was known for combining soft-serve ice cream, cereal and candy in its sweet treats.

A Utah ice cream shop known for combining soft-serve with breakfast cereal and candy has closed, and fans are dismayed.

Spilled Milk Ice Cream & Cereal Bar announced in an Instagram post Saturday that all five of its locations — in Daybreak, St. George, Salt Lake City’s 9th & 9th neighborhood, Vineyard and the Delta Center — had closed.

The post didn’t provide any details about why the business was closing, and a message sent to Spilled Milk’s Instagram wasn’t answered. Phone calls placed to the individual locations also weren’t answered.

“We just want to give a BIG thank you to all of you who have supported us these past 5 years,” the Instagram post said. “We started out in a trailer in Sugar House with no advertising. It was our friends and family that came and supported and shared our new business.”

Fans of Spilled Milk commented on the post, expressing their heartbreak and surprise that all the locations had closed.

Marvin and Sara Philip founded Spilled Milk as a food truck in 2019. Their most popular item was the “Over the Rainbow” cone — which had Fruity Pebbles and Cap’n Crunch cereals in an orange Creamsicle cone, with marshmallows and a sour candy strip for garnish.

“Our goal was to create an experience for people to come in and stay a while and enjoy ice cream together with the people they love,” the post continued. “We’ve loved seeing this dream come together.”
