Fast-casual pasta chain Fazoli’s is planning to come back to Utah

Known for Italian dishes and breadsticks, Fazoli’s is looking to open five Utah locations in five years.

A once-popular pasta restaurant chain is looking to mount a comeback in Utah next year.

Fazoli’s, a fast-casual restaurant known for its baked spaghetti and breadsticks, is planning to open five Utah locations in the next five years, its parent company announced recently.

The first Utah location will be in Saratoga Springs in 2025, according to a release by FAT Brands Inc., which acquired Fazoli’s in 2021. The other four are slated to open in Salt Lake and Utah counties.

“We have been committed to growing the brand strategically, in particular, fueling its return to areas with loyal followings such as Utah,” said Taylor Wiederhorn, FAT Brands’ chief development officer, in a statement.

FAT Brands — the initials stand for “fresh, authentic, tasty,” the release said — oversees franchises for 18 restaurant brands, including such familiar names as Johnny Rockets, Hot Dog on a Stick and Pretzelmaker.

Fazoli’s operated several locations in Utah in the late 2000′s, but the chain slowly left the state in the 2010s. Its last Utah restaurant, in Draper, closed in March 2016, a company spokesperson said.
