Don’t rain on her parade

The national touring production of the Broadway revival of “Funny Girl” lands at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City, starting Tuesday and running through next Sunday, Oct. 13. Hannah Shankman plays the title role of comedian Fanny Brice — the role that kicked off the stage and screen stardom of Barbra Streisand in the 1960s. Fanny’s mother is played on tour by the singing legend Melissa Manchester, known for such hits as “Midnight Blue” and “Don’t Cry Out Loud.” For tickets and schedule information for “Funny Girl,” go to saltlakecity.broadway.com.

Imagine Dragons come home

The arena rock band Imagine Dragons may tour the globe, but they remember their Utah roots. The band, which got its start in the Provo club scene, will perform three shows as part of its “Loom” world tour — Friday, Saturday and Tuesday, Oct. 15 — at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, 5150 Upper Ridge Road, West Valley City. Peter McPoland is the supporting act. Shows start at 7 p.m. each night. For tickets, go to livenation.com.

Picking up the pieces

A community restoration event for the 5th Ward Meetinghouse, at 740 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City, is scheduled for Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will help clean up and sort bricks into “usable” and “unusable” piles, in the first step to rebuilding the 114-year-old building — whose front section was hit by a wrecking crew in unauthorized demolition on Easter Sunday. Preservation Utah and Salt of the Earth are organizing the event; go to preservationutah.org or www.salt.gives for information.
