′Whitelisted’ at SLAC

Utahns will get their first chance to see Chisa Hutchinson’s play “Whitelisted” when it is set to make its regional premiere Wednesday at Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W. 500 North, Salt Lake City. The play centers on Rebecca Burgess, a woman to whom weird, supernatural stuff starts happening, for reasons she cannot fathom in what SLAC describes as “a cautionary tale that considers the possibility of cosmic justice in the absence of social justice.” The production, directed by Latoya Cameron and Tito Livas, will run at SLAC through Oct. 27. Tickets are available at saltlakeactingcompany.org.

More than 40 acts are slated to perform over the three days, with these headliners: Colter Wall on Friday, Megan Moroney on Saturday, and Oliver Anthony on Sunday. Tickets, starting at $99 (plus fees), are available at RedWestSLC.com.

A night of ‘Dark Cinema’

Cinephiles leaning into the Halloween mood might be interested in the first Dark Cinema Film Festival, scheduled for Saturday at The Ritz Theatre, 111 N. Main St., Tooele. The event promises a curated selection of short films that, organizers say, “delve into the depths of the human psyche and explore the boundaries of the supernatural.” The festival’s founders will premiere their new film, “Concessions,” at 7 p.m., and roll out more shorts at 7:30 p.m. The event caps off at 9:30 p.m. with a screening of the 1968 zombie classic “Night of the Living Dead.” Vendors and food trucks will assemble outside the theater starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, and must be purchased in advance online at connorblakemedia.com/darkcinema.
