Look Ahead: Local events and things to do this week, September 22-28

A free concert in English and Spanish; Rodrigo y Gabriela finishes Red Butte’s summer; and Pitbull plays Utah First Amphitheatre.

Sept. 22

Voices in English and Spanish

A free concert featuring Latin pop musician Ambar Lucid is happening Sunday at McCarthey Plaza by the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. Lucid, who is of Mexican and Dominican heritage, has been on “a conscious spiritual journey” with the goal of “healing our generational trauma,” according to a release from Salt Lake County Arts & Culture, which is putting on the concert as part of its “Eccles Presents” series. Opening for Lucid is Detzany, a Mexican American singer-songwriter and producer based in Salt Lake City. The bilingual, family-friendly concert runs from 4 to 7 p.m.

Sept. 24

The end of Red Butte’s summer

The final concert in Red Butte Garden’s summer concert series happens Tuesday, with the acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. Opening the show is Okan, an Afro-Cuban jazz group from Canada. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $54 for the general public; at redbuttegarden.org.

Sept. 25

Pitbull at Utah First Amphitheatre

The rapper Pitbull is headlining on his “Party After Dark” tour, which comes Wednesday night to Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, 5150 Upper Ridge Road, West Valley City. Pitbull is known for such hits as “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” “Give Me Everything” and “Timber.” Hip-hop star T-Pain will open the show. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available via Live Nation.
