Olivia Rodrigo is supporting abortion funds in the West — including one in Utah

The organizations, including the Utah Abortion Fund, will be supported by Rodrigo’s Fund 4 Good initiative.

Olivia Rodrigo, who stopped in Salt Lake City for her “Guts World Tour” on Wednesday night, is helping two abortion funds in the western United States — and one of them is based in Utah.

Rodrigo announced on Thursday morning via her Instagram story that a portion of proceeds from her ticket sales will support the Utah Abortion Fund and Wild West Access Fund of Nevada.

A spokesperson for UAF said, “We’re so happy that Olivia and her team used the GUTS tour to highlight reproductive rights, and proceeds from the tour will be split among abortion funds throughout the country ... The concert gave us the chance to connect with fans, give out resources, and let more people know about our work.”

The spokesperson said they felt “lucky” to have a tour stop in Utah and that they would find out how much money the fund will receive once the tour is over.

This is a part of Rodrigo’s wider Fund 4 Good initiative, “a global initiative committed to building an equitable and just future for all women, girls and people seeking reproductive health freedom.”

The Utah Supreme Court ruled on the state’s blocked near-total abortion ban on Thursday morning. Utahns will continue to have access to abortion up to 18 weeks of pregnancy.

The Utah Supreme Court ruled Thursday morning that Utahns will continue to have access to abortion for up to 18 weeks of pregnancy while a district court determines the constitutionality of Utah’s blocked trigger ban. The ruling does not determine the final outcome of abortion policy in the Beehive State.

There are three states in the West — Utah, Idaho and Arizona — where some sort of abortion ban is present, according to reporting from The Guardian.

“Despite today’s positive ruling from the Utah Supreme Court, abortion access is still an uphill battle in our state, so every dollar and every donor counts,” the spokesperson at UAF said.

Rodrigo has been vocal about her stance on women’s reproductive rights.

Early in her tour, local abortion rights groups handed out free emergency contraceptives and condoms, according to The 19th. Rolling Stone reported that Rodrigo’s management asked groups to stop handing out contraceptives following an uproar after Rodrigo’s show in St. Louis, Missouri, a state with a near-total abortion ban.

“We’re so thrilled that Olivia Rodrigo is using her platform to both amplify our cause and financially donate to not just our funds, but to all funds in our network,” a spokesperson for the Wild West Fund, an abortion fund focused on Nevada, told The Salt Lake Tribune in a statement.

The Wednesday night tour stop was a sentimental one for Rodrigo, who lived in Utah for two years. She characterized the show as a “hometown” show.
