Here’s where in Utah you can celebrate on the July 4th weekend

Fireworks, parades, live music, carnivals and a couple of rodeos.

For some people, having a day off for the Fourth of July is a chance to sleep in, relax at home, hang out with the family, and comfort the dog when the neighbors start shooting fireworks.

If your idea of the Fourth of July — which happens Thursday — involves having fun in the presence of other people in your city or town, this list is for you.

Many cities and towns in Utah celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade, or a fun run, or patriotic music, or full days of activities in a park, or live music in the evening, or fireworks at nightfall — and, frequently, several of these on the same day. A few places even hold a rodeo.

One event will even cross county lines. The 419th Fighter Wing, stationed at Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, is scheduled to make its traditional Fourth of July flyover across northern Utah. Between 9 and 11:15 a.m. Thursday, watch for — and, more prominently, listen for — four F-35A Lightning II jets overhead along the Wasatch Front, and to the east to Park City and Vernal.

The Salt Lake Tribune has compiled this list of Fourth of July weekend festivities across Utah. Many of them are free. There should be something for everyone, whether you’re staying close to home or traveling around the state.
