Somebody is lying about rumors about one of ‘The Real Housewives of SLC’

Whitney falsely claims that Heather exploited her sexuality in ‘Bad Mormon.’

In the penultimate Season 4 episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” Monica Garcia, Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Whitney Rose and Angie Katsanevas all make it clear they suspect Meredith Marks of manufacturing rumors about Angie and her business — and then sending the rumors from an anonymous Instagram account to Monica. Meredith denies everything.

Somebody is lying. Who?

According to Monica, Meredith told her about the Greek mafia controlling Park City in the past, and she asked Monica if she thought Angie could be in the mafia. Monica wonders if DMs she got about Angie’s alleged improprieties came from Meredith. She says she didn’t even notice the DMs until Meredith called her to ask about them.

Meredith’s version of events is that Monica “went into great detail on all kinds of rumors and dirt on Angie.” A few weeks later, Meredith told Monica a story about a Park City venue that “had been run by the Greek mafia. And Monica asked me, ‘Do you think Angie is a part of it? And I said, ‘I have no idea.’” Two or three weeks after that, Meredith says, she “received all kinds of documents” about Angie that “were all tying back” what Monica had said.

Neither Monica nor Meredith admit to any wrongdoing. Monica thinks Meredith is “leaving me hanging out here to dry.”

(Earlier this season, Monica said Meredith was spreading rumors that Angie’s husband was having affairs with men. It turned out that that was what Monica assumed Meredith was talking about when she said she had dirt on Angie’s marriage — and that the person actually spreading the rumors was Monica.)

Meredith talks to Angie

She tries to assure her that she had nothing to do with the rumors. Angie declares, “I’m not a fraud” and suggests that Meredith is “possibly scared of me” because she believes Angie is “some terrifying Mafia member.” They come to an uneasy truce.

Meredith goes and tells Heather and Lisa that “Angie and I spoke,” and the final conclusion is — “she’s taking out a hit on me.” Meredith laughs at her own joke; Heather and Lisa do not.

Somebody is very insecure

Lisa backs Monica in her fight with Meredith. She yells at Meredith, calling her a “liar” and telling her to cut it out. Monica, however, is very upset when she sees Lisa and Meredith chatting amiably a short time later, taking it as some sort of plot against her.

Monica says she’s getting “weird energy. And frankly, Meredith, I don’t like it.” Monica’s reaction is weird, and Lisa and Monica agree their relationship is like that of sisters who can fight one minute and act like nothing happened the next.

Whitney comes unglued. Again.

Whitney finally reads Heather’s best-selling book, “Bad Mormon,” and she loses it over an anecdote about when Heather was the photographer for a boudoir photo shoot of Whitney. She appears to be inebriated when she attacks Heather for “exploiting” her sexuality in the book (a totally false claim).

Heather has had it, telling Whitney, “You sound like an idiot.” Whitney shoots back, “You sound like a hypocrite.”
