2 ‘Real Housewives of SLC’ make it clear they loathe each other

Latest episode is extra long to fit in all of Lisa and Monica’s fighting.

The Nov. 7 episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is extra long — 75 minutes — so the fighting between Lisa Barlow and Monica Garcia can play out in all its horrifying glory. It’s long, loud, awkward, mean-spirited and sometimes childish.

The background is that Monica insulted Lisa to her face, calling her materialistic. Monica spread unfounded rumors that Angie Katsanevas’ husband cheated on her with men — Monica says it was “my way of being a friend” — and Lisa came to Angie’s defense. And Lisa does not believe Monica’s story that her mother is abusive.

Lisa and Monica spar at the birthday party Whitney Rose throws for her 13-year-old daughter, Bobbi. The gloves come off at Whitney’s event to launch her new jewelry line. Among their jibes:

• For the second episode in a row, Monica compares her mother to serial killer Ted Bundy. “My mom has two sides. She is very, very abusive,” Monica says. Lisa asks a legitimate question: “Why did you bring her to Easter, then?”

• Just after comparing her mother to Bundy, Monica says Lisa is “just like my mom!” Lisa does not take well to that and suggests, “Maybe you’re more like your mom than you think you are.” Lisa tells Angie, “She wants to be me. She wishes she could have what I have. That’s why she carries fake Chanel.”

• Lisa tells Monica to “chill the [expletive] out.” Monica replies, “You are so bothered by me. I love it.”

• Lisa tells Monica to “knock it off.” Sounding like a 12-year-old, Monica says, “You’re not my mother.” Lisa tells Angie, “No one wants to be her mother. Clearly.”

• Lisa tells Monica to be quiet so she can “enjoy the sound bowl” performance. Monica replies, “Yes, go ahead. Old people need it.” (Monica takes multiple shots at Lisa’s age. Lisa is 48; Monica is 40.)

It goes on and on …

‘Mormons’ and the prom

Heather helps her daughter get ready for the prom. And, she was worried that 17-year-old Georgia might not be going at all “because the Mormons all go together with other Mormons.” But she has a non-Mormon boyfriend who is “not a part of that Mormon scene,” Heather says. “And I’m so grateful that they have each other.”

Heather disputes Lisa’s ‘Mormon’ credentials

Lisa has always acknowledged that she is not an orthodox Latter-day Saint, and Heather questions whether Lisa is LDS at all. Heather is annoyed that Lisa, whose son is going on a mission, “is not a Mormon, but you get to wear the title.” When Lisa insists that she is Mormon, Heather says, “You’re not. You’re the least Mormon person on the planet.” Lisa replies, “I’m 100% Mormon. That’s why my kid’s serving the Lord.” Heather bursts out laughing.

A golf cart for a 13-year-old?

Whitney and her husband, Justin, give their daughter, Bobbi, a golf cart for 13th birthday. Whitney admits she’s worried about that, “But on the flip side, she can help me get Brooks to and from school. She can run errands, and she can be my personal Uber.” (An unlicensed, underage driver in an unlicensed vehicle. What could go wrong?)
