Christmas, a cappella

As soon as the Halloween decorations are put away, some think it’s time to start playing the Christmas music. The Eccles Theater, at 131 S. Main in Salt Lake City, kicks off its holiday music schedule with a performance Thursday by the nine-member a cappella group Straight No Chaser. The group is known for tight harmonies and humorous takes on holiday songs (like its rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” which samples “The Dreidel Song” and Toto’s “Africa”). The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at ArtTix.org.

The pop trio is expected to pull together a set list from their five hit albums. Opening the show is the pop band Lawrence. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at MaverikCenter.com.
