‘Our State Fair is a great state fair’

Ride the rides, play the carnival games, watch the livestock, eat more fried foods than is humanly healthy — all at the Utah State Fair, starting Thursday at the Utah State Fairpark, 1000 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City, and running through Sept. 17. For tickets and information, go to utahstatefair.com.

Sept. 7-9

Music, conversation and wellness

Billed as “a multi-day music and wellness event,” the second annual Park City Song Summit, running Thursday through Saturday at Canyons Village in Park City, features dozens of musicians — this year, the roster includes Bobby Weir of the Grateful Dead, folk-rocker Lukas Nelson and Public Enemy’s Chuck D — in performance and conversation. Sept. 8-10

Salt Lake City’s Greek heritage
