Mark your calendars for Jan. 18 through 28, 2024 — the official dates for the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced the dates on Thursday, which is also the first day filmmakers can submit their work for consideration for the festival.
The 2024 festival, like the 2023 edition, will be a hybrid festival — with in-person screenings of all selected films, and online availability for what the institute calls a “robust selection” of festival titles.
The in-person screenings will be in Park City, Salt Lake City and the Sundance Mountain Resort. Details on when the online films will be shown are pending.
The 2024 festival will be the 40th presented by Sundance Institute, which in 1985 took over the Utah/U.S. Film Festival (as it was called when it launched in 1978).
The early submission deadline for feature films is Aug. 11; the official deadline is Sept. 4; and the late deadline is Sept. 25. For short films, the three deadline dates are July 31, Aug. 18 and Sept. 4. For episodic works, the deadlines are Aug. 7, Sept. 1 and Sept. 18. For the New Frontier section, which was put on hold in 2023, the deadlines for projects are Aug. 4, Aug. 21 and Sept. 1.
