Would it really be summer in Utah if Michael Franti or Ben Harper weren’t performing a concert somewhere?
Those popular musicians are part of the lineup of the second season of the Deer Valley Concert Series, unveiled Tuesday. Four concerts were announced in March, and three more announced in April, Deer Valley and The State Room Presents said.
Here are the shows, all scheduled for Deer Valley’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater:
June 30 • Michael Franti & Spearhead, which blends hip-hop with funk, reggae, jazz, folk and rock. Reggae star Ziggy Marley will open the show.
July 11 • Jenny Lewis, pop singer-songwriter. The opening act is still to be announced.
Aug. 11 • Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, playing a mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock. Jazz act Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue are also on the bill, along with an act to be announced.
Aug. 8 • Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, country-rock band (and Bradley Cooper’s backup band in “A Star Is Born”).
Aug. 17 • John Butler Trio+, an Australian roots/rock band. The soul band St. Paul & the Broken Bones will open the show.
Aug. 23 • Thievery Corporation, electronic music duo.
Sept. 7 • Squeeze, British new-wave band famed for the songs “Tempted” and “Black Coffee in Bed.” Opening will be the pioneering L.A. punk band X.
