This year marks the 25th anniversary of “The Sandlot,” a film about a group of kids who bond over America’s favorite pastime one summer in 1960s California.
While the film was set in the Golden State — including Dodger Stadium — it was mostly filmed in and around Ogden and Salt Lake City.
You can still see some familiar scenes from the movie today. The iconic sandlot itself has changed the most.
Protagonist Scotty’s home is on 2000 East in Salt Lake City.
Future baseball star Benny Rodriguez lived on 2000 East in Salt Lake City.
The actual sandlot, where the group spent every summer day, is near Glenrose Drive in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City. The field was rebuilt in 2013 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film.
The film’s memorable pool scenes were filmed at the Lorin Farr Community Pool in Ogden.
The neighborhood’s Fourth of July picnic was held at the corner of Bryan Avenue and 2000 East in Salt Lake City.
Ham, the catcher, also lived on 2000 East, near Bryan Avenue in Salt Lake City.
The scrappy group of sandlot kids played their game against the more refined baseball bullies at Rose Park Field at Riverside Park in Salt Lake City.
The Founders Day Picnic and Carnival were filmed at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.
Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film in two ways this week:
