Tallahasee, Fla. • Sam Travis hit a tiebreaking two-run homer, and Indiana beat Florida State 11-6 on Sunday to reach the College World Series for the first time in school history.
Will Coursen-Carr (5-0) pitched four innings of relief for Indiana (48-14), allowing just one earned run. Coursen-Carr earned the victory in the Big Ten tournament final, regional title game and super regional clincher.
After Florida State (47-17) scored three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game 5-5, Travis gave the Hoosiers the lead for good in the bottom of the inning.
Indiana is the first Big Ten team since Michigan in 1984 to reach the CWS.
Louisville 2, Vanderbilt 1 • Jeff Thompson surrendered one run in seven strong innings to make two early runs stand up to help send the Cardinals to the College World Series for the second time.
South Carolina 8, North Carolina 0 • Jordan Montgomery pitched a four-hit shutout, leading the Gamecocks in Chapel Hill, N.C., and tying the super regional series 1-1.
N.C. State 5, Rice 4 (17) •North Carolina State's Tarran Senay scored on a double by Brett Williams in the top of the 17th inning, rallying the Wolfpack to a victory over Rice in Raleigh, N.C., in the longest super regional game in NCAA history.
Mississippi State at Virginia, susp., rain • The super regional game was suspended in the middle of the seventh inning by lightning and heavy rain in Charlottesville, Va., with the Bulldogs leading 5-3.
The game will resume at 2 p.m. MDT Monday, the original scheduled time for a possible Game 3. A victory would finish off a second straight impressive victory for Mississippi State and send them to the College World Series.
Oregon State 12, Kansas State 4 • The Beavers cruised past the Wildcats to tie the super regional series at 1-1 in Corvallis, Ore.
