No Alvaro Saborio? Not a problem for Real Salt Lake.
Missing its leading scorer due to injury, RSL got first half goals from Robbie Findley and Luis Gil and held on to beat the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Salt Lake dominated the scoring chances in the game. Just five minutes into the game, Findley found himself in front of the goal with the ball but hesitated and had to settle for a corner kick.
Three minutes later, a long throw-in by Tony Beltran took a deflection and Findley got his left foot on a bouncing ball and slipped it past Seattle keeper Michael Gspurning for his first goal since rejoining Real Salt Lake.
Findley, however, suffered a left adductor strain and had to come out of the match in the 13th minute.
RSL used a short corner in the 35th minute to get its second goal. Ned Grabavoy floated a ball to midfielder Luis Gil, whose header beat Gspurning far post.
Michael Gspurning's effort in goal kept Seattle in the game, and the Sounders managed to cut the lead on a Brad Evans goal in the 57th minute. But RSL would hold on for victory.
Midfielder Javier Morales saw his first action of the season, coming on as a second-half substitute for Gil.
