NFL • Elvis Dumervil has spurred the Denver Broncos for Baltimore, agreeing to a five-year deal, Ravens general manger Ozzie Newsome announced Sunday.

Broncos football operations chief John Elway issued a statement Sunday saying the Broncos "worked diligently over the last week" to re-sign Dumervil but "are now moving forward without him."

Dumervil agreed to reduce his 2013 salary from $12 million to $8 million but the paperwork didn't reach the NFL offices in time and the Broncos were forced to release him on March 15. The sides continued negotiating but the Ravens swooped in.

Costa Rica asks to replay qualifier

Soccer • Costa Rica is asking soccer's governing body for a replay of Friday's World Cup qualifier against the United States, won 1-0 by the Americans during a snowstorm in Commerce City, Colo.

The Costa Rican Football Federation said the climatic conditions threatened the physical integrity of the players, left the sidelines and markings on the field largely not visible and led to the entry onto the field of snow-clearing personnel, which it said was not permitted.

The federation also argued that "ball movement became impossible given the quantity of snow on the field."
