Saturday is National Military Voter Readiness Day, so Utah Lt. Gov. Greg Bell is urging military families to take advantage of Utah's online resources to register or request an absentee ballot.

"There is no right or responsibility more important than voting. No matter where in the world a service member is, he or she can be assured that Utah will help protect that right. Utah is ensuring our heroes can say, 'I voted,' " Bell said.

Online voter registration and applications for absentee ballots are available online at voter.utah.gov. Completed absentee ballot applications may be filed by email to elections@utah.gov or by fax to 801-538-1133.

The deadline to register online before the general election is Oct. 22. Overseas voters seeking absentee ballots must file applications by at least Oct. 17, which is 20 days before the Nov. 6 election. Voters in the country seeking an absentee ballot must request it by Nov. 2.
