The issue of women in pants ceased to be an issue years ago, because pants are comfortable, warm in cold weather and adaptable to many situations.

They are more modest than many skirts when one is seated. As is also true for men, many women look better in pants. Still, as the humorist Ogden Nash observed:

Sure, deck your lower limbs in pants;

Yours are the limbs, my sweeting.

You look divine as you advance —

Have you seen yourself retreating?

But while pants or any other form of dress for women may be a fashion statement, they should not be a political statement, or a gender statement, or a religious statement — unless a rule against them makes them that kind of statement.
