In a reasoned essay on http://susaneisenhower.com, Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of the best Republican president in 100 years, endorsed Barack Obama, who has much in common with President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Both are calm, rational deciders, whose steady hand in foreign policy avoided rash and costly engagements. Both managed the government well and made decisions based on the national picture.

We forget how conservative Republican states' righters opposed Eisenhower's enforcement of the civil rights laws and the building of interstate highways. Both solidified the country as one unified nation, indivisible.

So, too, with Obamacare. National problems require national solutions.

We need the calm, steady, moderate Eisenhower-like Barack Obama.
