The Utah Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee seeks public comment on two judicial nominees prior to senate confirmation votes.

Brandon J. Maynard was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the 1st District Court, and Roger W. Griffin has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the 4th District Court bench.

Anyone wanting to comment on the nominees should contact Mike Christensen at the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, Utah State Capitol Campus, House Building, Suite W210, PO Box 145210, Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-5210, by 5 p.m. on July 11. All statements should include the respondent's name, telephone number, and mailing address.

The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee will hold a public hearing on July 14 regarding the nominees and issue a positive or negative recommendation to the full senate.

If confirmed, Maynard will replace Judge Ben H. Hadfield, who will retire in August, 2014, and Griffin will fill the vacancy that will be left by Judge Steven L. Hansen who will retire this month.
