About 45 firefighters were on standby Wednesday, closely monitoring a lightning-caused blaze on a remote patch of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Fire Information Officer Kathy Jo Pollock said the Third Water Fire, spotted about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, had not grown beyond its initial 32 acres.
"We're just monitoring it right now. It's high on a ridge, creeping along underneath grass and brush. Unless we get some kind of significant winds, we don't expect it to move much more," she said.
The nearby Strawberry Ridge Road is acting as a barrier to the blaze's potential spread, Pollock added.
No injuries or structural damage had been reported.
