An Idaho man remained in critical condition Tuesday, the day after he was injured in a head-on collision that killed a Nevada woman in Utah's Sanpete County.
However, a nursing supervisor at Provo Regional Medical Center said the vital signs for Richard Larsen, 68, of Nampa, Idaho, had stabilized.
The Utah Highway Patrol says Marissa Watkins, 20, of Moapa, Nev., was ejected and killed when her northbound Saturn sedan drifted off U.S. 89 near Axtell and onto the east shoulder, overcorrected and veered into oncoming traffic to crash into Larsen's southbound Nissan Maxima.
Larsen first was rushed to a hospital in Gunnison, then flown by medical helicopter to Provo.
Troopers said Watkins was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, but Larsen was wearing his seat belt.
