Spring may still be a week away, but picnic weather has already arrived in Utah.
Forecasters expected delightful weather Wednesday along the Wasatch Front, with highs in the lower 60s in Salt Lake and Tooele counties, in the mid 60s in Utah County and around 60 degrees in Davis County. Lows were expected to drop into the lower 40s in Salt Lake, Tooele and Davis counties Wednesday. In Utah County, forecasters expected lows in the high 30s.
The Wasatch Front should also see a warming trend, with highs nearing 70 by Thursday.
Other cities across the state were also seeing exceptionally pleasant weather. In generally colder Cache County, forecasters expected highs around 50. And in St. George, high temperatures will likely soar into the upper 70s.
All counties along the Wasatch Front will also experience green air quality Wednesday, though air quality in Logan will be moderate.
So all things considered, Wednesday may be the most pleasant day of 2013 yet.
For those hoping to take advantage of the warmer weather and hit Utah's back country, the Utah Avalanche Center once again predicts a moderate risk of snow slides along the Wasatch Front and in Cache County. The risk of avalanches in the Uinta Mountains is considerable.
The high in Salt Lake City was expected to be 63 degrees Wednesday and 68 degrees Thursday; Provo, 64 and 69, respectively; Ogden, 59 and 63; Logan, 49 and 59; Wendover 63 and 68; Duchesne, 56 and 59; Cedar City, 65 and 72; St. George, 78 and 82; and Moab, 64 and 70.
