A Tuesday night fire destroyed an Ogden area home but no injuries were reported.

Weber Fire District Deputy Chief Paul Sullivan said Wednesday that the cause of the 8:40 p.m. Tuesday blaze was under investigation.

The fire occurred in a relatively remote location of the county, the 800 block of Ogden Canyon Road.

The only occupant was not home at the time of the fire, but in the hospital for treatment of an unrelated medical condition.

Crews arrived to find the fire well underway with flames coming out of the roof.

Ammunition stored inside the house reportedly exploded during the fire but no firefighters were hurt.

Sullivan said that in addition to the Weber Fire District, crews from Ogden also assisted in battling the blaze.

A damage estimate was not immediately available, beyond the fact that the home was a total loss.
