Scott Brown, a 22-year veteran of the National Park Service and chief ranger at Capitol Reef National Park since 2006, has been named the park's interim superintendent.

Brown, who has also worked in Canyonlands and Zion national parks, as well as Capitol Reef on another occasion, takes over the interim position from Dave Worthington who served as the acting superintendent for three months after Superintendent Al Hendricks retired three months ago.

National park officials expect to make an announcement on a new superintendent later this winter.
