A woman flown by medical helicopter from a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Davis County Tuesday morning has been upgraded to serious condition, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said the woman lost control of her Honda Civic about 8:20 a.m. as she traveled southbound near Lagoon. She first struck the left guard rail and then careened back across the lanes of travel into another guard rail on the right side of the freeway.

She initially was in shock and listed in critical condition with a broken leg, but later upgraded when her vital signs stabilized and she regained full consciousness.

The accident scene was shut down and traffic diverted to nearby Legacy Highway for about an hour while the wreckage was removed and investigation conducted.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
