A Davis County woman accused of killing her 4-year-old son will wait until after her husband's preliminary hearing to have her next court date.

Stephanie Christina Sloop, 29, appeared in 2nd District Court on Friday. Her next court date was scheduled for April 12, after prosecutors present their evidence against her husband, Nathan Sloop, during a hearing set for March 27-29.

Charging documents allege the Layton couple engaged in multiple acts of "severe abuse" in April and May 2010 that led to 4-year-old Ethan Stacy's death, including "beatings, burning, drugging, isolating, malnourishing, leaving the child alone and unattended while suffering, and refusing to seek vital life-sustaining medical attention."

Earlier this month, the Davis County Attorney's Office filed formal notice that it would seek the death penalty against 34-year-old Nathan Sloop.
