The section of State Road 148 through Cedar Breaks National Monument that connects state roads 14 and 143 has been closed for the winter.

Heavy snow accumulations and drifting snow annually force closure of the road, although the monument remains open for winter activities, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

The portion of State Road 143 though the monument connecting Panguitch with Brian Head and Parowan will remain open through the winter except during periods of heavy or blowing snow.

For current conditions, call the Utah Department of Transportation Travel Information Service a 866-511-8824 or 511 if calling from within Utah.

For more information on the monument's winter activities, call 435-586-9451 or go to 1.usa.gov/arKQju.
