A Unified police officer was recovering at home, a day after being involved in an on-duty crash near West Valley City, Unified police Lt. Justin Hoyal said.

Police said the officer was driving one of two police cars north on 4000 West Saturday when a 17-year-old collided with the side of the officer's car.

West Valley City police, who were investigating the crash, said both police cars were using lights and sirens, but the 17-year-old girl, who was driving westbound on 6200 South, failed to yield as they came through the intersection.

West Valley police said the girl was cited with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
