The 2013 Sundance Film Festival is more than three months away, but already it's landed a major celebrity sighting.
Artist/designer Todd Oldham has signed on with the Sundance Institute to collaborate on a custom line of limited-edition merchandise to be sold at the Festival Store in Park City and online, Sundance announced Wednesday.
The items include notebooks, bags and wallets made from recycled materials — notebooks from old festival guides, and bags made from old festival banners.
The potentially super-cool items are "Sundance Film Festival Editions" items — including tote bags, buttons, patches and t-shirts — with designs by Sundance Film Festival alumni. Among the filmmakers and performers who have signed up are: Lauren Greenfield (director, "The Queen of Versailles"), Mike Mills (director, "Thumbsucker"), Shirin Neshat (director, "Women Without Men"), Stacy Peralta (director, "Bones Brigade"), Parker Posey (actress, "The House of Yes"), Susan Sarandon (actress, "Arbitrage"), Amy Sedaris (actress/writer, "Strangers With Candy"), Morgan Spurlock (director, "Super Size Me"), John Waters (director, "Pink Flamingos") and Mike White (writer/actor, "Chuck and Buck," "The Good Girl").
Also for sale is "Sundance Film Festival A to Z," an art book featuring works from 26 illustrators interpreting festival films and artists representing the letters of the alphabet. The illustrators confirmed for the book are: Wesley Allsbrook, Morgan Blair, Chris Buzelli, Marcos Chin, Sam Wolfe Connelly, Alison Dubois, Daniel Fishel, (PLC) Jessica Grindstaff & Erik Sanko, Caitlin Heimerl, Patrick Hruby, Ricky Katowicz, Jean Kim, Greg Kozatek, Kevin Laughlin, Hillary Moore, Chris Silas Neal, Robyn Ng, Victo Ngai, Michele Romero, Yuko Shimizu, Dadu Shin, Armando Veve, Aaron Kent Warder, Jing Wei, JooHee Yoon and Bill Zandel with cover illustrations by Wayne White.
The items will be available starting Dec. 17 at the festival's stores in Park City, and online at http://www.sundance.org/store.
