Green River Fishing Report for May 28th, 2013Flows will be increasing to 2600 cfs on the 29th, and 4600 cfs on the 30th. High Flows are expected to last about a week.Hatches: Cicadas, sparse BWO's, midgesThe cicada fishing has been good this past week, but not great as many folks have experienced in the past. There are a number of cicadas in the trees and a good number on the water. The fish are still not real confident in eating the naturals. I have watched several live cicadas drift for hundreds of feet before being slurped up. There have been large midge hatches each morning with some of the naturals being as big as a #16. There has been opportunity for midging on the surface. All that being said, it may change dramatically as the flow go up in the next few days. I have seen years where the fish continued to eat cicadas through high water. Nymph fishing should be great once the water comes up. Typically, thousands of scuds and worms are dislodged during high water making the fish frenzy. The first few days of high water tend to be productive for nymphing from the boat. Time to pull out the neon nightmares and big scuds you never thought you would use. It is a difficult time to wade fish. The water will be up on the trail in a few spots near little hole. This week's pics include brown trout of varying color and spot patterns. It's amazing how the same river can produce such a diversity in a single species.
