Carrie Underwood picked up five nominations for the 2012 CMT Music Awards, it was announced this morning live on NBC's "Today" show.

Miranda Lambert followed closely behind Underwood with four nominations; two for her solo work and two as a member of country trio and first-time nominees Pistol Annies. Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Thompson Square are tied for three nominations apiece.
